⬩ GARDEN-TO-PLATE Cooking CLASSES ⬩

Learn to create delicious, seasonally inspired cuisine in a fun and relaxed setting.

Each class varies, but all our classes focus on Stonewood’s vegetables in the peak of their season. Classes include instruction on basic knife skills, professional tips, and advice on proper storage of your vegetables. You’ll finish the morning with a feast prepared by you and your classmates in the beautiful, light-filled dining room of our Cookhouse. The table is set with freshly harvested flowers and vintage dishes, cutlery and linens, and the meal is always paired with a complimentary glass of wine (students 21+) selected from our wine cellar. Come ready to learn and come hungry!

You can reserve your place with a suggested minimum donation of $150.00 per student. Each class is a blend of demonstration and hands-on participation. Class size is limited to 8 students, suitable for all experience levels. The minimum age is 16, although some exceptions may apply. Space is available on a first-come basis. We understand that conflicts arise that may affect your ability to attend a class; your donation is not refundable but your reservation is transferable. All students will receive a printed menu, a packet of recipes prepared that day, and a Stonewood apron to use during the class. Aprons are available to take home for an additional donation.

As it’s a small group, we’re asking everyone to arrive on time in consideration of all the guests who will be joining us. The Farm tour and harvest begin at 10am, we’ll cook as a group from 10:30am to 12:30pm, and sit down for a family style lunch at 1pm.

We will attempt to accommodate special dietary requests related to the eight common allergens - gluten, dairy, egg, soy, peanut, tree nuts, fish and shellfish - provided that you email us at chef@stonewoodny.org at least two weeks in advance of the class. Please include your phone number in the email so that we may call you to discuss the options we can offer.

Our classes are the perfect way to learn new skills, socialize with friends, or share a team-building exercise. And you can feel even better about your experience because all proceeds directly support Stonewood Farm’s First Harvest Pantry and our other community outreach programs.

We look forward to having you join us in the kitchen!

A vegetable farm is an ideal classroom for a cook. There’s no better way to learn about, and connect with, the meal being prepared than to see how your food is grown and then harvest it for use in a dish that you prepare. It’s why a cooking class at Stonewood Farm is an opportunity to enjoy the fullest, one-of-a-kind culinary experience.

The morning will begin with a tour of our Market Garden led by Farm Managers Sam and Jeremy, during which you’ll harvest your own fresh produce to use in the class. After the tour, Chef Kristen will show you how to create globally inspired dishes that highlight the vegetables you harvested and, perhaps, some you've never used before.
